Satin Balls: A Breeder’s Secret Weapon for Healthy Weight Gain

In our cottage kitchen, we love making wholesome, homemade recipes for our dogs — especially when they need an extra boost. 

One of our tried-and-true favorites is Satin Balls — a high-calorie, nutrient-rich treat that’s perfect for:

🐶 Giving growing puppies a healthy calorie boost

Mini Satin Ball Recipe (Small Batch)

Yields: 10–12 mini bites (~40–60 kcal each)

Ingredients:

¼ lb ground beef (80/20)

⅓ cup bran flakes (crushed)

¼ cup old-fashioned oats

1 tbsp wheat germ

1 tsp date syrup (or pure maple syrup)

1 tsp vegetable or coconut oil

1 egg (raw)

Optional: 1 tsp plain Greek yogurt

Optional: 1 tsp plain canned pumpkin


Instructions:

1. Crush cereal with a rolling pin or food processor.


2. Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a medium bowl.


3. Roll into marble-sized balls.


4. Freeze on a baking sheet, then store in a freezer-safe bag.


5. Thaw before serving.
